David Colton began glass blowing in Fort Collins, CO in 1995 and had his first solo show at Easy Street Gallery Brooklyn, N.Y. (2009)

His body of work is mainly comprised of flame worked abstract 3D borosilicate sculptures and functional pipes.

In 2019, David was awarded the Rakow Commission from Corning Museum of Glass, making him the first glass cannabis pipe maker to receive this recognition and to enter an art museum’s permanent collection. This work was also recently exhibited within a group show at the Smithsonian in 2021 along with the Toyama Glass Art Museum in Japan.

David has been included in Corning Museum’s annual peer-reviewed journal, New Glass Now,  (issues 38, 41 and 42) and participated in their group show, The Spring Collective in 2021.

From 2017-2019 Colton created a commissioned series of works for The Dr. Seuss Museum’s permanent collection in Springfield, MA.
